Long-Awaited Updates

Hello All!

As normal, we have been forever giving you all an update on the status of NewFoundSpecFic II. We recently departed with our previous publisher, Engen Books, and are now continuing on with the series independently with our new publication methods. The second issue's editorial process was a real challenge, with numerous high quality submissions making it hard to choose a small number of them for publication. Jennifer has stepped down from her Co-Editor position, and will be continuing with NewFoundSpecFic in a reduced role of graphic design and marketing. Therefore, I (Devin Drover) am now the Lead Editor of NewFoundSpecFic, a position that should remain for the next few volumes.

The following is a sneak preview of the stories for the next volume, to be released next April (2010) at Sci-Fi on the Rock IV in St. John's. We have a lot of interesting stuff for you this time, including some well done horror fiction by Dave Cherniak and John Brennan, a well-thought fantasy piece by Yeoryios Pantazis and a dazzling science-fiction story by Edward McDermott amongst others.

Here's the table of contents:

A Picture Paints a Thousand Words
- Dave Cherniak

Land of the Gods
- Yeoryios Pantazis

Nothing but Vaccum
- Edward McDermott

Messenger
- Steve Stanton

Diary of Knives
- Matthew Daniels

Landing on the Moon
- C. Charles White

Heatlink
- Kevin Grubbe

Thumbprint
- John Brennan

Expect more updates now over the next couple months with regards to our guest introduction, cover art and other information.

Hope all is well,

- Devin Drover

Hey All,

I'm still recovering from Sci-Fi on the Rock, this past weekend in St.Johns, Newfoundland. We signed some books and made lots of new friends, and overall had a grand time!

Also present at the convention was good friends, and Engen-Books founder Matthew LeDrew, aswell Iceberg Partner/Author Kenneth Tam. Also present was fellow authors William Meikle (Watchers Trilogy) and Louise Bohmer (The Black Act), and actors Vaugh Armstrong (Star Trek Enterprise), Peter Mayhew (Star Wars Episodes 3,4,5,6) and Christian Simpson (Star Wars Episode 1) .

We should be doing another public event soon, but more details will be annouced on that very, very soon.

Brand new look

Now that we've opened submissions to all of Canada, a complete redesign of the site was certainly in order. We've updated the look to match our new orange and blue nebula logo.

There's been a few other changes as well! With the success of our first edition, our expansion hasn't just been geographic. We're now been able to increase our payment to authors! Check out the submission guidelines for more information.

So spread the word! The deadline for submissions for the next edition is July 6th.

#1 out, #2 in progress!

Hey All,

A little NewFoundSpecFic update. We've officially launched the first book this past Saturday at MUN which was a huge success. Including 10 stories by local authors such as Matthew LeDrew, Ellen Curtis, Joshua Quinlan, Devin Drover, Jennifer Graham and Ryan Marsh, the first edition of NewFoundSpecFic has been selling like crazy. For those that still hasn't picked up the book, just head to the site http://www.newfoundspecfic.com and pick one up before we are all sold out!

Our future plans is to begin work on the next edition of NewFoundSpecFic. We've now opened up the guidelines to all Canadians, and are looking for any interesting stories with speculative elements. For those looking at submitting stories for publication, go to the site and read the guidelines before submitting.

Next off, we will be appearing at Newfoundland's Biggest Sci-Fi Gathering, Sci-Fi on the Rock in just 3 weeks time. We'll be promoting the next volume as well as selling the book for the special event price of 10$. Among the other guests for the con includes Newfoundland-born authors Kenneth Tam and Matthew LeDrew as well as a very special guest Peter Mayhew, known as Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy. For more information on the con visit the website at http://www.scifiontherock.com.

Pre-orders!

The website's been a bit neglected over the last few months, but that's because we've been hard at work getting the book ready for publishing!

The store is up and running! If you want to order online, or invite friends and family to order, you can now do so. Keep in mind that the book is still at the publisher, so it will be a few weeks before they will be shipped.

Thanks all!
